The Literary & Dramatics Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus Jalandhar celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm, creativity and literary fervour. Observed every year on 14 September, Hindi Diwas commemorates the adoption of Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, as one of the official languages of the Union of India. The celebration at the campus provided students with an engaging platform to appreciate the richness of the Hindi language while showcasing their linguistic skills, creativity and presence of mind.
The event featured a series of exciting and intellectually stimulating competitions designed to encourage students to explore Hindi beyond conventional classroom learning. The activities blended language, teamwork, creativity and quick thinking, making the celebration both educational and entertaining.
The competition “मुहावरा माइम – Guess the Idiom” brought together language and performance, as participants enacted popular Hindi idioms without speaking, challenging the opposing teams to identify them correctly. The winning team comprised Dhwani and Waris of MBA 3rd Semester, while Vishal and Shivam of MBA 1st Semester emerged as the First Runners-up.
One of the major attractions was “शब्द संग्राम – The Word War” an energetic word-based competition in which participants competed head-to-head and demonstrated their command over Hindi vocabulary through synonyms, antonyms, idioms and sentence formation. The competition was won by Nancy and Harnoor of BBA 1st Semester, while Kamakshi and Anjali of BCom 5th Semester secured the First Runner-up position.
Adding an element of mystery and linguistic investigation was “शब्द जासूस – The Word Detective” which challenged participants to decode words through a series of clues, identify linguistic connections and demonstrate their vocabulary skills. Muskan and Manvir of MBA 3rd Semester emerged as the winners of this engaging competition.
